Byron + Stephanie | Winter Wedding at Historic 1625
He was from a family of vegetarians, she was the daughter of a cattle farmer and butcher. Byron and Stephanie’s love story could have been a retelling of Romeo and Juliet, only their families were a lot more reasonable and got along despite their differences.
The wedding was a blast! It was a chilling winter day in Washington, but miraculously the sun made an appearance. If you have spent time in Washington state in the winter, you’d understand how miraculous that really was.
This was the first time I’d shot at Historic 1625 Tacoma Place. It’s a stunning venue, but dark, especially in the evening. I ended up pulling a few strings to take the first look and couple portraits at another location, and depended heavily on flash photography at the location.
Natural light photography has a soft organic quality to it, but I’m not just a “natural light photographer.” There’s too many instances that call for added light. Not having enough light causes photos to have a lot of grain in them, which is not necessarily a bad, I just try to keep the grain in my work to a minimal.
